Team

Magnacor Therapeutics’ team has led pioneering research demonstrating the role of microbial infections in atherosclerotic plaques as a critical factor in ischemic events. Supported by funding from the NIH/NHLBI and the American Heart Association, our work leverages advanced microbiology, genomics, and immunology techniques.

We were the first to:

  • Demonstrate vascular cell transmission of bacterial pathogens.
  • Show associations between dormant bacteria and atheromatous tissues.
  • Coin the term “atherosclerosis microbiome” to denote critical microbial communities impacting heart disease.

Our founder, Dr. Kozarov, has collaborated closely with top U.S. research institutions to advance this field. This expertise positions us to advance our platform technology successfully and bring patient-specific therapies to market.
